RUSHING METEORITE
WITHIN STONE’S THROW OF LIGHTHOUSE ROARING AND FLAMING ■Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Today. Burning with a terrific white flame and roaring with a noise that shook the tower, a meteorite passed within a stone’s throw of the Godley Head Lighthouse at G. 40 last evening. The light-keeper, Mr. T. B. Smith, and his family received a severe fright. Mr. Smith told a reporter that the roar of the approaching meteorite attracted his attention. It came from the south and was going almost due north, descending at a steep angle. It seemed to stop flaming before it reached the sea.
