UNITED PARTY STRIFE
CHAIRMAN’S ARGUMENT WITH LABOUR M.P’S EXECUTIVE TO MEET Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. As a sequel to a newspaper controversy between Mr. A. E. Davey, chairman of the United Party organisation and Labour members of Parliament regarding the unemployed relief proposals, three members of the United Party executive, Messrs. McGrath, Lonergan and Perry, today issued a statement. “The question has never been before the executive of the United Party,” it said, “and the executive is in no way responsible for what are obviously Mr. Davy’s private views. A meeting of the executive committee will be held shortly to deal with the matter.”
