Sir Alexander Herdman left for Welllast evening. Mr. Culford Bell returned to Auckland from the South yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Roberts, of Dunedin. returned by the Niagara today from a trip abroad. The Hon. J. B. Donald. PostmasterGeneral, returned to Wellington last evening by the Limited. Mr. and Mrs. David Latimer, of Auckland, who have been abroad for some time, returned by the Niagara today. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Michaelis, of Dunedin. who have been touring abroad, returned by the Niagara today. Lieutenant-Colonel R. D. McFarland, M.C., the Waikato Regiment, has been awarded the Colonial Auxiliary Forces long-service medal. Mr. and Mrs. N. Gaisford and Miss Gaisford. of Danncvirke, returned from Honolulu by the Niagara, this morning and are staying at the Hotel Cargen. Mrs. Culford Bell has been appointed to judge the elocution at the next annual festival of the Gore Competitions Society, to be held in May, 1930. Messrs. J. D. F. Marbison, Mount Gambler, South Australia, and John F. Wilkins. Melbourne, were guests of the Auckland Rotary Club at luncheon today. Mr. W. H. Kirk, well-known Tasmanian business man, is passing through Auckland on the Niagara and is completing the last stage of a trip round the world. - Wing-Commander S. Grant-Dalton, Director of Air Services, and Major L. M. Isitt, officer in charge of the Hobsonville air base, left by train for the South last evening. Mr. John Phillips, general sales manager for Chipman, Australia. Limited, leaves for Sydney on the Niagara tomorrow on a business trip.
