CHURCH CHOIR FUNDS BENEFIT
ENTERTAINMENT AT NORTHCOTE An entertainment organised and conducted' by Miss W Gillibrand, of “Beechwood,” Queen Street, Xorthcote, in aid of the choir funds of St. John’s Anglican Church, was held in the Parish Hall on Saturday evening. There was a large audience and the various items given were enthusiastically received. A feature of the entertainment was the performance of an operetta and play, both composed by the organiser. Other items were: Overture. Miss B. Lilburne and Mr. Wyman; chorus, boys of St. John’s Choir; recitations, Messrs. E. Robinson, T. Eades and Reg Eades; songs, Miss A. Deacon (Auckland); crinoline dance, Miss Blanche Davey and chorus; duet, Miss Rita Daniels and Myra Philips; song. Miss Gunman. Miss S. Gillibrand made an efficient accompaniste. During an interval, Canon McFarland. on behalf of the parishioners and choir, conveyed his thanks to Miss Gillibrand and the performers for their excellent entertainment. SOCIAL EVENING YE AWAMUTU PARTY A social and kitchen evening was given to Mr. Cecil Corboy at the Kihikihi Town Hall on Tuesday evening. in honour of his approaching marriage. Miss M. King, of Melbourne, the bride-to-be, was also a guest. Dance music was supplied by Miss K. Wallace, and extras were played by Misses N. Quinlan. V. McKenzie, A. Bennett. M. King, Mrs. Rav and Mr. Wyn Corboy. Mr. C. Linehan acted as M.C. Musical items were contributed by Mrs. Ray (Melbourne), violin selections and songs. Miss M. King tPokuru).
