PHAR LAP’S DERBY WIN
A MEMORABLE EXHIBITION EASING UP AT FINISH (United. P.A. — By Telegraph — Copyright) Reed. 11 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. The “Sydney Morning Herald,” commenting on the Derby, says: “It was one of the easiest wins for many j years. Phar Lap gave a memorable i exhibition of free galloping, and was going easily all the time, while the other horses were making hard work of it. The only one to make any impression along the back was Carra* dale. The New Zealand-bred gelding was allowed its head when entering the straight, and after establishing a serviceable lead was held in check. He had the race won long before the judge was reached, and was eased up over the last furlong to break the record amid tumultuous applause.”
