Heated references were made in the State Assembly to the affairs of the Mount Isa Proprietary, Silverlead, Limited. Mr. Kelso, a member, said he considered the facts disclosed were one of the biggest scandals on record. The debate arose on the second reading of a Bill to ratify an agreement giving the Mining Trust, Limited, prospecting rights over 100,000 acres on the Burketown mineral field. The sensational allegations made by Mr. Kelso involved two former Labour Premiers, Mr. E. G. Theodore and Mr. W. McCormack.
