AMAZING SIGHT AT SEA

“RIVER” BANKED HIGH WITH WEEDS THOUSANDS OF FLYING-FISH Times Cable. LONDON, Friday. The Astronomer Royal, Sir Frank Dyson, on arriving at Southampton today by the Euripides, told a strange tale of the behaviour of the south equatorial current. The ship steamed close to the edge of the current which was running at a good three knots an hour, but the edge was quite stationary and banked high with seaweed and marine growths. Over these flew thousands of flyingfish. It -was like steaming along a river bank, though the river was hundreds of miles wide. Captain Bowman corroborated the statement. He said he had many times traversed the current, but had never seen a similar sight.
