RAILWAY ENTERPRISE
PARCELS OFFICE AT OPOTIKI From Our Own Correspondent OPOTIKI, Friday. Mr. A. E. Lovell, representing: the commercial branch of the New Zealand Railways, has been in Opotiki for the last few days arranging for the opening of a booking and parcels office. It was announced today that an agent had been appointed, and that parcels will be dispatched and received daily. The department hopes later to open a separate and permanent office and to appoint an officer to take charge of railway business at Opotiki. The new departure will fill a longfelt want here, as despite many requests for a daily parcel service from and to Auckland, the PostmasterGeneral declined to inaugurate a dailv postal service. Realising the need of such a service, the Railway Department decided to take steps to fill the want.
