BIG CYCLING RACE

WARRNAMBOOL CONTEST BEGINS 182 COMPETITORS START Reed. 2 p.m. MELBOURNE, Today. In the Warrnambool cycling race there were 224 acceptors, and 182 starters. The weather is perfect for the race. There is a difference of 70 minutes betwen the scratch and the limit men. The riders encountered a head wind for the start, and made an average pace of about 18 miles an hour, passing through Camperdown at 8.30. Mead. King, Anderson, and Ford led, closely followed by McLeod, Smith, Plum, and Pearson, the riders bunching in a big group because of the wind.
