Hewitt, S.M., chairman of tho Railway Appeal Board, arrived from Wellington this morning by the Limits. The Hon. J. B. Donald, PostmusterGeneral, arrived from Wellington by the Limited this morning. He will go South again on Sunday night. Commissioner James Hay, of the Salvation Army, will leave fur Canada on October He will be in Auckland in the week-end to conduct a farewell meeting. The Rev. R. S. Wareing, the new vicar of, Te Awamutu, was inducted at a special service in St. John’s Church on Wednesday evening, when the Bishop of Waikato, the Rt. Rev. C. A. Cherrington. officiated. The Rev. Kdgar Ward, formerly of Kaitaia, will be inducted as vicar of Point Chevalier by Archdeacon lfawk;jis on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ward hive already taken up their residence a; the vicarage. Wing-Commander S. Grant Dalton. T 3.5.0., A.F.C., and Major L. M. lsitt arrived from Wellington by the Limited this morning. They will spend some days here inspecting the Hobsonville air base. Mr. A U. Ford, manager of the* tramways. Mr. R. J. Phelan, a member of the Transport Board and Mr. J. Stanton, the board’s solicitor, returned fi'om Wellington this morning on the Limited. Captain F. L. Hunt, staff officer in ciarge of the Dunedin regimental district, has been transferred to command headquarters in Auckland. He will arrive here at the beginning of next month. His successor in Dunedin is Major O. Mead, who recently returned from England. Th» Rev. Joseph W. Kemp, minister of the Auckland Baptist Tabernacle, is recovering from an operation, and will be unable to attend the conference of the Baptist Union, which opens in Auckland next week.
