SCHOOL CONCERT
AUCKLAND GRAMMAR BOYS A programme of high merit was presented by the pupils of the Auckland Grammar School on the occasion of their annual concert held in tli«> Town Hall last evening. Perhaps the most enjoyable features of the evening were the numbers given by the school choir under the baton of Mr. K. Dellow. The "boys show signs of having been well trained, and although sopranos predominate, there is sufficient of the bass element to give the combination a good tonal volume. An outstanding performance was that of M. W. Dilworth in his violin solo, Kreisler’s “Liebesfreud.” Drdla’s “Danse Hongroise” was also well played by the same performer. A variety of numbers was played by tho school band which has been trained by Messrs. N. Nicholls and G. Bowes, and the items evoked warm applause. Members of the school dramatic club were seen and heard to advantage in two Shakespearian scenes—one from “Henry V.,” and the quarrel scene front “Julius Caesar.” An Indian club display and an exhibition of horizontal bar work and tumbling were given by a gymnasium squad trained by Messrs. F. Rogers and E. La Roche. Many Other entertaining items were given, the whole making up a concert of high standard.
