SALE OF WORK
COUNTESS OF ORFORD OFFICIATES AT OPENING j ST. GEORGE'S CHURCH St. George’s Church I-lall, Ranfurly Road, Epsom,, was attractively decorated yesterday afternoon when the Countess of Orford opened the annual sale of work held in conjunction with the church. The proceeds of the sale ' are to be added to the fund for a pipe ; T,' effective colour scheme was of j pale yellow, orange and green. The Rev. J. U. Litt introduced the I Countess of Orford, who was presented ! with a bouquet ol golden yellow flowers jby little Kathleen Whitaker. The | countess addressed the gathering and i wished them every success in their • effort. She was wearing a smart spring [ suit of beige and ivory checked faille, with ivory relief, and. a pale beige { bankok hat. ! The stall-holders were: Flowers, J Mrs. E. W. Bowden, Mrs. A. I-f. David - [son and Miss Massey; handkerchiefs, Mrs. Wilson and Mrs. Kicolson; cakes, Mrs. Hawken and members of the Mothers’ Union; sweets, Mrs. Whitehead and the Misses Graham; work stall, Mrs. Preston-Chambers, Mrs Petrie, Mrs. Dexter, Mrs. Whitaker and Mrs. L. Thomas; fancy stall, Miss Bailey, Mrs. Collins and Mrs. Harrison; men’s stall, Mr. Sutton and helpers; afternoon tea, Mys. S. Jones and helpers. In the evening a delightful programme was given, the following artists contributing:—Mr. Howie, Madame Baird, Mr. Dan Flood, Mr. J. R. Sutton and Miss Dowding. The orchestra, under Mr. IT. Engel, played several selections. The sale of work will be continued today and this evening.
