AIRMEN AT CAMBRIDGE
NEXT STEP IN TOUR SITE FOR LANDING GROUND From Our Own Correspondent CAMBRIDGE, Today. In continuation of their tour of the first section of the Xorth Island, the three airplanes arrived at “Bar&owie,” Cambridge, punctually at 11.30 this morning, making a perfect landing before a large crowd. The visiting airmen were welcomed by the Mayor, Mr. C. H. Priestley; Mr. R. Hannon, president of the trotting club: and others. Mr. Spencer Mason, chairman of the Auckland Aero Club Committee, replied. Subsequently the airmen and officials inspected the trotting club’s racecourse alongside "Bardowie.” where there are S 4 acres of flat country. The opinion was expressed that the area was ideal for a landing ground if the legislation against licences for racecourses could be overcome. The visitors were assured that tho trotting club, in conjunction with the borough council and domain board, were prepared to go ahead and organise a landing ground. Tho airmen leave Cambridge at 2.30 for. Te Awamutu, returning to Cambridge tonight. They leave again the first thing in the morning for Auckland.
