HAMILTON OPPOSITION From Our Own Correspondent HAMILTON, Wednesday. j Opposition to State trading in its . various forms lias frequently been expressed by members of the Hamilton | Chamber of Commerce. The following ! remits will be sent to the Dominion ] Conference of Associated Chambers in i Auckland on October 14 and 15:—- [ “That the Government be urged to j appoint a commission for the purpose I of inquiring into the extent to which ! the various activities of the State and of public bodies are debited with appropriate charges for rent, rates, taxes, etc., and in default of appropriate action by the Government, the executive committee of the Associated Chambers be instructed to arrange for inquiring into the question and to publish the result of its inquiries if deemed desirable.” “That the conference appoint a subcommittee for the purpose of reporting before the conference rises on the desirability of and the steps necessary for founding a permanent organisation adequately staffed and financed for the purpose of resisting the adoption of communistic principles by the New Zealand Legislature.”
