WAIUKU TOWN BOARD

The Waitiku Town Board met on Monday evening, the chairman, Mr. J. J. A. James, presiding. Before commencing business the chairman referred to the death of the board’s former clerk, Mr. H. C. Hay, and to the death of Mr. J. D. Chalmers. Votes of sympathy were passed to the relatives of the deceased. The clerk of works was instructed to purchase fittings for water connections and to proceed with the work of laying pipelines. It was resolved to call tenders for the Colombo Road, Kaiwaka Road and Mellsop Avenue contracts. The question of appointing a new clerk to the board was discussed and it was resolved to advertise the vacancy. The water works committee reported that three tenders had been received for tho George Street contract and that the tender of Mr. James McEwen, of 12s a chain, with an additional EOs for the crossing of Queen Street, had been accepted.
