COMPETITION ENTRIES

CLOSING DATE POSTPONED NEW CLASS INSTITUTED The number of entries so far received for this year’s festival of the Auckland Competitions Society, which, begins on October IT, is considerablv greater than last year’s total. The entries were to have closed at the end of last week, but in response to appeals from the country districts it was decided to keep the lists open for all classes until Afonday next, October 9. Entries have been received from Wellington, Gisborne, Napier, and all parts of the Auckland City and Province.

This year a new class has been instituted fo,r a prepared speech. A special prize of five guineas has been presented by the Auckland Manufacturers’ Association.
