NO STATE ADVANCES

MANUREWA BARRED BOARD SEEKS REASON The town clerk reported at last evenings meeting of the Manurewa Town Board that no reply had been received from the State Advances Department, as to why loans had not been sanctioned in Manurewa. The chairman, Mr. Gallalier, said it was a fact that no loans had been granted in Manurewa for some time, and they should ascertain the reason. He said that Manurewa. together with New Lynn and Point Chevalier, were barred of loans. Mr. Whyte said it was hard to understand the attitude adopted by the department. There was only one house in the whole district owned by the State Department, and they were one of the local bodies singled out for curtailment. After further discussion it was agreed to forward a further request to the department for an explanation of the | position, and to send a copy of the letI ter to Mr. J. X. Massey, M.P., the memI her for Franklin.
