Students of Druleigh College GATHERING IN SCOTS HALL A most enjoyable evening was spent by past and present Druleigh students and friends at the Scots Hall on Saturday evening. "With beautiful decorations, music by Jean Mclndoe’s orchestra, and an enjoyable supper, the evening, which passed all too quickly, was thoroughly enjoj-ed by all present. Four prizes were awarded for spot waltz competitions. the winners being Miss Bently and Mr. Stanley, Miss Marshall and Mr. Marshall. The committee, consisting of Messrs. C. D. Mill, R. Inglis, E. Rae, Misses Walker, Mourant, E. Walker. Chauvel. Isdaile, Read and Crosby, is to be congratulated on a successful function. Among the many charming frocks were the following: Miss B. FAREWELL SOCIAL MEN FROM WARSHIPS ENTERTAINED PRESENTATION MADE A farewell social was tendered to men from H.M.S. Dunedin and IT.M.S. Diomede by the members of the Endeavour Lodge of the International Order of Good Templars on Wednesday last. An excellent programme of musical and elocutionary items was given by Mrs. Bridgens, Misses Casley, Williamson and Smithson Messrs. MeCardell, Wearing and Kellian. The accompanist was Mr. Purcell. Mr. F. Pace, president, of N.F.S. Conference, gave a short address, and wished the men God-speed on behalf of the United Friendly Societies of Auckland. »- Rro. A. M. Watts on behalf of naval members, presented a trophy, a silver gavel and block made to represent a capstan, mounted on black marble and set in a handsome case of ebony and glass. The trophy was subscribed for by members of H.M.S. Dunedin and Diomede, and made on the latter vessel, and is to be held by Endeavour Lodge until next session of the Grand Lodge, when it will be presented for annual competition among the lodges of the Dominion for increased membership. C.T. E. K. Hodgkinson responded on behalf of Endeavour Lodge, and expressed the regret the members felt at the departure of the men, who have done so much to advance Good Templary in New Zealand, and presented each with a souvenir badge to be worn on regalia to remind them of their association with the lodge and their sojourn in New Zealand. The meeting closed with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.’ FOR LABOUR QUEEN PADDY’S MARKET AT NORTHCOTE SUCCESSFUL AFTERNOON To further the interests of the Labour queen in the Birkenhead queen carnival, a successful Paddy's Market was held in the spacious grounds of the Northcote Hotel on Saturday afternoon. The grounds were placed at the disposal of the committee by Mr. E. C. Davy, president of the Northcote Ratepayers’ Association. The various stalls, laden with produce, home-made goods, etc., were freely patronised by ready purchasers. The side-shows, games and competitions were in great favour with the younger folk. Tho grounds were gaily decorated with flags, and during the afternoon the Labour queen, Mrs. J. Godfrey, was present and formally introduced to those present. The committee responsible for the function consisted of Mesdames FT. Boardman. G. Pugh, A. Wilkins, C. Rose, A. Dellow, and Mrs. Leathart, honorary secretary. Gentlemen who prominently assisted were Messrs. G. Pugh, W. Rout. F. Halloran, S. McCarthy and A. Wilkins.
