BETTING-TRICK CHARGE
TWO TELEGRAPHISTS IN COURT FORGED TELEGRAMS ALLEGED Press Association. GISBORNE, Monday. As a sequel to, alleged betting transactions, a well-known business man, William McKinnon, and two telegraphists, Wallace Fountain and Charles Thomas Clifto¥d Hands, appeared before justices in the Police Court this afternoon, and were remanded until October 10. McKinnon and Fountain were charged that, on August Ift, 1929, at Gisborne, they did conspire with one another to defraud Arthur Veo of Napier, of £l7O, by means of' a forged telegram. McKinnon and Hands were jointly charged with havmg, on August 24. 1929, attempted to defraud Arthur Teo, of Napier of ~ ISO, by means of a false pretence, a forged telegram. Bail was allowed accused in self 45100 and one. surety of £IOO.
