“SERVING TWO MASTERS”

TRANSPORT BOARD SOLICITOR SUSPICIOUS RATEPAYERS “I am afraid that the appointment of the City Council’s solicitor. Mr. J. Stanton, as legal adviser would be viewed with suspicion by the rate- 1 payers.” said Mr. F. S. Morton at a meeting of the Transport Board this morning. The remark was prompted by a decision of the board, in committee, to appoint the firm of Stanton. Johnstone and Spence as its solicitors. Mr. Morton thought no man could serve two masters. "We are appointing the firm, not an individual.” said the chairman of the board. Mr. J. A. C. Allum. “If | there should happen to be a dispute between this board and the City Council another solicitor will be asked to act for the board.” The appointment was confirmed.
