PROTEST TO CONFERENCE
EXTRA DAY’S RACING BAY OF PLENTY JOCKEY CLUB A vote of censure upon the New Zealand Racing Conference was passed by the Bay of Plenty Jockey Club following upon the failure of the Conference to endorse the recommendation of the Auckland District Committee for an extra day’s racing for the club. A letter of protest is to be sent to the Conference on its failure to endorse the recommendation. It was at the annua? meeting on Saturday night of members of tlie Bay of Plenty Jockey Club that the above protest was launched. The pi'esident’s report stated that tho last race meeting was the most successful in the club’s history. Considerable improvements were effected to tho course and the principal improvements recommended for next season are the erection of a building for the caterer and the removal of the tofalisator house to another site. The statement of receipts and expenditure disclosed a, sound financial position. OFFICIALS ELECTED Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follow:—Patron, Mi*. C. E. The formal resolutions authorising the incorporation of the club were adopted.

THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 6 furlongs. GOLDMINER (N.Z.), 9.4, Coutts .. 1 AIR PARADE, 7.0 2 FLEETING SHOWER, 7.6 3 Fourteen started, including Belcaire and Tea Queen. Won by three and a-half lengths. Time, 1.142. The winner is by Paper Money. HAWKESBURY SPRING HANDICAP 1 mile and 3 furlongs. SUNFLARE. 6.7. Hickey 1 RAVALLI. 7.9, Frances 2 CYLLENE, 6.11 8 Eleven started. At tho meeting of the Waipa Racing Club, held on Friday evening, the following appointments were made for the race meeting:—Startei*. Mr. A. Vincent; handicap pei*, Mr. F. J. MacManemin; judicial committee, Messrs. A. S. Wallace, H. Weal, A. H. Storey, G. M. Aliier, and F. Quin; paddock steward, Mr. J. T. Young; totalisator steward, Mr. R. A. Coyne: jockeys’ room steward, Mr. A. Bond; blackboard steward, Mr. S. A. Empson; ambulance steward, Mr. S. A. Empson; race card steward, Mr. A. G. Warburton; Press steward, Mr. A. A. Reese; horseholders. Messrs. T. G. Martin, C. F. Storey, F. Ticklepenny. and J. O’Sullivan ; accomodation steward, Mr. W. Finlay. It was reported that at a meeting of the Country Clubs’ Association it was decided to adopt reports presented, which recommended that all members of the association come into line with clubs in other districts by issuing complimentary tickets to certain specified officials only. It was stated that some of the country clubs have refused to curtail their complimentary tickets, claiming that they are necessary to successful meetings. The club decided that no action be taken. The plan of proposed alterations to the course appointments was received, especially in connection with a proposal to alter the position of the numberboard, but after discussion was deferred. The programme committee for the next race meeting is:—Messrs. W. H. Tim?, A. H. Storey, and H. West. It was recommended that the club again offer a total of not more than £1,350 in stakes for the coming race meeting. This was agreed to. and application is to be made accordingly.
