“PRISONERS” Much of th« plot of ‘‘Prisoner j,” Oorinne Griffith's newest starring vehicle, which is now showing nt the Rialto and Regent (Epsom) Theatres, revolves around a company of Hungarian actors who frequent the Uttle baker-cafe where Miss Griffith, in the role of lliza Riga, acts as cashier. An outdoor performance of a whole act of Shakespeare's “Midsummer Wight's Dream” is given by these players with Otto Matiesen and Jean Lavin important roles. Puck, Bottom, Thisbe, Hermia, Lysander, Demetrius. Oberon and Titania with their retinue °f fairies and many other of the Bard of Avon’s immortal characters disport themselves in picturesque costumes on the screen. One hundred and fifty Players take part in the Shakespeare Play. ‘"Prisoners” was adapted for the screen and follows Molnar’:? novel in faithful detail. It is one of the most colourful productions in which Miss Griffith has ever appeared, showing Quaint street scenes in Vienna and Budapest, and many glimpses of night hfe in these picturesque cities. Tom Patrioola. who invented the sensational “Black Bottom” dance, in George Whites “Scandals’ of two Vears ago. has been signed for a Matured role in “Words and Music,” the Pox Movietone musical comedy.
