S.P.C.A. WAITS ON MINISTER DEPARTMENT AT WORK Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. When a deputation from the Wellington Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals waited on the Minister of Lands, the Hon. G. W. Forbes, to-day with reference to tho bobby calf business, Dr. C. J. Reakes, DirectorGeneral of Agriculture, said the age limit of five days was being much more rigidly enforced this year and the conditions generally had been much improved. The trade had been given a lot of attention by the department and every effort was made to have the calves dealt with as . quickly as possible. Everything was done to see they went through the minimum of suffering. Ths Minister said he was sure the officers of the department would cooperate with the society to see no cases „f cruelty occurred. The whole question would be investigated.
