There was a large and representative selection of Merinos and a good offering of greasy crossbreds, also many New Zealand greasy Merinos. The last-named were mostly withdrawn. The Federal Farm Board announced on Thursday that it would meet at Chicago on October 4 with the wool-growers, for the purpose ot organising a national association to handle wool. N.Z. GUARANTEE CO-OP.. LTD. NET PROFIT OF £23,206 A net profit of £23.206 is shown in tho annual report of the New Zealand Guarantee Corporation, Ltd., for the year ended August 31, 1929. This represents a net return of approximately 10.8 per cent, on the paid-up capital of the company. The called-up capital remains at £214.390. Twenty thousand preference shares are fully paid to £1; 4,000 ordinaries are fully paid to £1: the biggest part of the company’s capital, however, is issued in £1 shares paid to Ss. The directors again announce that it is not considered likely that further calls will be necessary. An interim dividend at the rate of 7 per cent, per annum was paid on llie preference shares; 10c! a share was paid out on fully-paid ordinaries, and 4d a share on the Ss paid ordinaries. It is proposed to pay out at a similar rate for the final dividend. General reserve account is shown at £25,000, and the directors recommend the transfer of a further £5,000 from this year’s takings to swell that account. This leaves the sum of £1,298 to be carried forward. Two directors, the Right Hon. Sir J. G. Ward, and Mr. W. Thorpe, retire, but. offer themselves for re-election.
