TAKANINI PAIR
JAMIESON AND GOLDFINCH SUCCESSFUL COMBINATION | The three successes of H. Goldfinch j at Avondale over the week-end has elevated the Auckland horseman to the | head ot the winning jockeys' list. He is in wonderful riding form, and it ; would occasion no if he were to top the list for 'the current season. In addition to his three wins at Avondale. he was in a place on several occasions, his record for the fixture being three wins, two seconds and two thirds —placed seven times in a dozen races. Another successful rider was tlno Manawatu apprentice, Iv. Voitre, another product of trainer R. E. T Hatch’s training. This boy has a good seat and good hands, and the headpiece is there too. He can now go to scalo- at under seven stSne, although he looks as if he will soon add to his | avoirdupois. He won yesterday on ! Piuthair and Royal Ruler, his handling ! oi’ the two-year-old being very ini pres-
sive. _ Young Voitre has a big future as a jockey, for he is one of the most promising apprentices seen out for some seasons. The following table shows the positions to date on the winning jockeys’ list:—
The following is a complete list of winning jockeys at Avondale: H. Goldfinch (Takanini).—Eaglet (2) and Sea Cob. • C. France (Palmerston North). — Prince Val (2). K. Burgess (Matamata). —Red Comet. Iv. Robinson (Foxton). —Lady’s Boy. E. Garrett (Ellerslie).' —Zircon. A. E. Ellis (Riccarton). —Value. B. H. Morris (Marton). —Historic. Trainer Jamieson on Top As suggested last week when reviewing the prospects for Avondale, it paid to follow* J. T. Jamieson’s hotses, for the Takanini mentor turned out three winners, two seconds and two thirds, with five dividends. This raised him to the head of the list of the Do- | minion's trainers, his total now being seven wins. Honours were fairly well divided among the trainers at Avondale, only three claiming more than one winner, but those three mopped up half the programme and about 75 per cent, of the stakes. J. T. Jamieson and J. Clothier were the most successful, with three wins each, and S. Reid also had a good meeting with two wins. The list of winning trainers is as follows: J. T. Jamieson (Takanini). —Eaglet (2) and Sea Cob. J. Clothier (Matamata). —Prince Val (2) and Red Comer. S. J. Reid (Trentham). —Historic and Lineage. J. Wallace (Te Aroha). —Lucky Alice. - J.
