DOMINIONS’ STATUS

CANADA SEEKS COMPLETE AUTHORITY' PREPARING FOR CONFERENCE (Australian and N.Z. Press Associatioii) OTTAWA, Saturday. Conferences inside and outside the Cabinet are in progress about the attitude to be taken by the Canadian delegation to he Imperial gathering, to be held in London on October 8. That conference is supposed to “iron out” of existing laws the things inconsistent with Dominion equality of status. Canada takes up the position that, as an autonomous couutry, conceded to have equality of status, the Par- | liament within its sphere should have | complete authority, and that its enactmens should not be subject to Imperial : reservations. At present the British | Government can disallow' any Act of the Canadian Parliament. It is understood in Ottawa that all the Dominions will ask for the repeal of the Colonial Laws Validity Act.
