GAOL FOR JOY-RIDERS
ENGLISH COURTS GOING AFTER OFFENDERS “BORROWED” CARS (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) . LOiNDON, Saturday. The borrowing of a motor-car without permission will become an offence punishable by imprisonment, if a recommendation of the council of the Magistrates’ Association is adopted by the Goyernment. This recommendation is the outcome of a prolonged controversy concerning a weakness in the law- which latterly has been responsible for a tremendous increase in the number of cars taken by joy-riders, and afterward abandoned, frequently in a damaged condition.
