SCENE IN CHURCH

WANTED TO FIGHT WITH CLERGYMAN UNRULY VISITOR FINED £5 For unruly behaviour in refusing to leave a church and inviting the clergyman to come out and fight, Thomas Hart was fined £5 at the Police Court this morning. He pleaded that he could remember nothing of the incident. Hart, a bootmaker, aged 41, pleaded guilty to charges of drunkenness, breaking the terms of his prohibition order and interfering with the orderly conduct of a religious service in a church. According to Sub-Inspector McCarthy, accused had last appeared in court on September 2, when he had been fined for drunkenness and a breach of his prohibition order. He had made six previous visits to the court. Hart was convicted and discharged on the first two charges and default of the fine on the third charge was fixed at a month’s imprisonment.
