DOROTHY M AFLOAT
NEW TRAWLER LAUNCHED MODERN FITTINGS At 8.30 this morning Miss Dorothy Munro shattered a bottle of champagne on the bows of the Dorothy M„ the new trawler built by Charles Bailey and Son, Ltd., at the Freeman’s Bay yards, and the vessel slid quietly down the slipway. As she took the water the Diesel engines were started up and she moved off on a trial trip. The Dorothy M., one of the most up-to-date seine net trawlers in New Zealand, was built for Mr. Jack Munro, of Auckland, a brother of Captain H. Munro, of the Canterbury Steamship Company. A three-skin boat, diagonal built, the craft is fitted with a 58 h.p. four-cylinder oil engine. She is a nine-tonner, 50ft over all, with a 14ft. beam and a 4ft 6in draught. Her speed is about nine knots. Electric light is fitted throughout, and ther# is a patent coiler bn deck. Her roomy fish-hold is insulated with cork.
