THREE FINE CROSS COUNTRY MEN

Browne, who won the four-mile Sir James H. B. Coates steeplechase conducted by the Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club at Ellerslie on Saturday last, is one of Auckland's most promising young long-distance runners. He is a pupil at the Mount Albert Grammar School. N. F. Cooper, who filled third berth on Saturday, won the Auckland Metropolitan cross-country championship by securing fastest time. Had he been available, he would have been Auckland's second string at the recent New Zealand cross-country championship meeting at Dunedin. F. L. Witten is a Mount Albert Grammar School old boy, who made the trip to Dunedin as a member of the Auckland provincial team.
