FAST TIME BY P. H. FRANCIS

F. H. Francis, the English runner who represented Gisborne in the Port Chalmers-Dunedin road race on Saturday week, put up a fine performance when he finished third from scratch in 41min lsec. In doing this Francis—who has an English marathon to his credit, by the way—beat by four seconds the previous best time for the race, a time that had stood for 17 years, having been put up by G. G. Notman in 1912.
