Moascar Cup Presents A Problem
NOBODY WANTS IT (Special to THE SUN) WELLINO TO N. Th ur sday. Anyone who can put forward a scheme which will perpetuate the name of the Moascar Cup and remove its charge from the New Zealand Rugby Union will be highly popular with the management committee. The last annual meeting of the Union decided that the trophy should be offered to the University of New Zealand for competition. CnofficiI ally, this has been done. Unofficially, j the trophy has also been declined j Representatives of the University Foot- | ball Council can devise no scheme for ! handling the Cup. and do not feel that they are empowered to accept it in any case. Besides this, the management committee of the Union feels that it should ascertain the feeling of the ) donors of the Cup. I The number of adventures which have i befallen the Cup since its return to New j Zealand with the Mounted Rifles team is j extraordinary. It now seems ineviii ably condemned to the relative oblivI ion of some provincial contest, though j even here there is a difficulty in disI posing it.
