THESE ARE THE ONES TO BACK
VOTHING more consistent than the winter form of Gold Money and Paddon could be wished for. Making a reappearance at Te Rapa at the end of April, Paddon won at long odds, and he followed this up by running Seatown to a neck in the Cornwall Handicap. Five weeks later Paddon donkey-licked a good field of milers at Trentham, and in the Pakuranga sprint defeated all but the three-year-old Flying Prince. In all, four starts for two wins and two seconds. Gold Money, a favourite with Aucklanders—she is one of their very own—won at Pukekohe in May, twice at Ellerslie (thereby completing the hat trick), and was only a head behind Paddon in the Pakuranga sprint. Followers of form horses could do much worse than be on the side of this pair at the early spring fixtures.
