CALL FOR BALD-HEADS
INGENIOUS ADVERTISER IN LONDON IDEA OF PAINTED SCALPS (United Service) Reed. 10 a.m. LONDON, Wed. An advertiser in a London newspaper called for 12 respectable baldheaded gentlemen who would allow him to paint a typewriter advertisement on their scalps. Successful applicants were required to attend theatres, concert halls, and other assemblies, where people’s heads were usually uncovered. Each was to be given a personal attendant to protect him from annoyance. Thirty-five replies were received, the youngest bald-head being 25. The chief lure appears to be the prospect of free entertainment. One applicant wrote: —“My wife is quite capable of protecting me, and will do so for suitable remuneration.”
