BANKRUPT BUTCHER
HIGH-PRICED STOCK From Our Own Correspondent WHANGAREI, Tuesday. There was a fairly large meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of John Davis, a butcher, of Rawakawa, held before Mr. A. L. Tressider, deputy-official assignee. Bankrupt s schedule showed the amount owing to unsecured creditors as £ 997 6s. The assets included the balance of equity in a motor-car, valued at £2OO, and book debts amounting to £ 500, estimated to produce £ 450. The nominal deficiency was £326 14s. Bankrupt attributed his failure to the high prices which he had to pay for stock, and he had just recently had his home burned. After bankrupt had been examined the meeting was adjourned.
