HISTORIC AUCKLAND

MARKING POINTS OF INTEREST The marking of places of historic interest in Auckland by means of brass tablets, was suggested by Miss Alice Basten at a meeting of the Auckland Town Planning Association last evening. The proposal is to be investigated. Well-known spots mentioned included the old high-water mark in Shortland Street, Fort Britomart, the Albert Barracks, Jacob’s Ladder in Beach Road, where people used to land from boats and ascend the cliff, the old St. Paul’s, the old Supreme Court in Queen Street, now the City Chambers, and the site of the old Parliament Buildings, recently demolished.
