WHOLESALERS WIN

BUSINESS HOUSE RUGBY RETAIL DEFEATED

By 16 points to 10 the wholesale warehouses of Auckland defeated the retail houses in a Rugby match at Blandford Park last evening—the first electric light Rugby match yet played in Auckland. Fast exchanges marked the opening stages. Falwasser made a splendid run through the opposition to the other wing, but Wholesale retaliated in a fine counter rush. Lucas was prominent in a side-stepping run and Falwasser again dashed through, but was caught just in time. The Wholesale forwards were frequently breaking awav with Solomon in the lead. The Wholesale backs set off and Pearcev made a brilliant run through to the posts and passed to Pierce, who touched down. Wales easily converted. Shortly after Fraser dummied over for Retail, Lucas converting. Wholesale rallied, and D’Authreau dribbled over wide out for Cammick .to miss with the kick. At half-time Wholesale had an S-o lead. In the second spell Lucas scored and converted for Retail, and Hurt added three points for Wholesale by registering an unconverted try. Wholesale now led by 11 points to 10, but the issue was put beyond doubt when Wales scored again for Wholesale, Cammick converting. Final score:—* Wholesale 35 Retail 1° ROTORUA RUGBY From Our Oxen Correspondent ROTORUA, Today. On Saturday a team of Eden playersvisited Rotorua to try conclusions -with the local players. Rotorua fielded a scratch team, which proved too strong for the lighter Eden players. The Eden forwards certainly had the better of the game in the line-outs and scrums, but their backs were too slow to take advantage of their opportunities. The game was fast and keen, though lacking in science. A good game ended in Rotorua's favour by 23 points to 11. Ellis, English, Marshall, Milne and East were prominent Eden players, with Mana, Thomas and Steel, of Rotorua, as the most spectacular players. MORRINSVILLE REPS.
