NIGHTMARCH

Nightmarch, the New Zealand Derby winner, was Handicapped at 5.12 for the New Zealand Cup, but as a result of a brilliant victory in the Spring Handicap at Tattersall’s meeting at Randwick on Saturday, the four-year-old has been rehandicapped 2lb. which now brings hie New Zealand Cup impost up to weight-for-age. Though there is nothing definite that the son of Night Raid will come back to Riccarton for the big November race, he already occupied a prominent position in the quotations for the Cup. His deeds last season left little to be desired, and as he has already struck form in Sydney it would not be at all surprising if he annexes a big handicap before his return home. Besides claiming an engagement in the A.J.C. Metropolitan Handicap, Nightmarch also has been nominated for long distance weight-for-age races at the RandwiclC spring carnival.
