Care of the Car Water in Petrol Tank If water gets into the petrol tank, no matter how, it is always a difficult task to remove it, even when we entirely drain the tank. If the quantity of water is small it is a good plan to take a chamois leather and wet ; thoroughly, then wring out and make into a pad. Attach this to the end of a long supple stick. By inserting, water with which it comes in contact will adhere to the pad and be absorbed. Occasional attention given to the tank in this way will serve many an involuntary stop on the : road. Windscreen Wiper Break It lias been stated that a break in the hose connection of the windscreen i wiper is sometimes the cause of difficulty in starting the car. The break will run the vacuum tank dry. Folding a Hood When lowering the hood first see •that all means of attachment to the side curtains are released. Then, Having freed it at the front by slack- | ing off the securing nuts on the windscreen pillars, take hold of the reari most stick and pull back and downward until it lies on the hood rests. I Afterward break the joint on each : side, half-way along the hood, by pressing downward on the rail, but | while closing the sticks into the flat position carefully withhold the folds !of material. You will find then that J you have a large loop of material, as | it were, hanging down: this should be folded up twice and the end doubled over prior to enclosing the whole hood in the envelope. The above method \s applicable particularly to the lighter type of hood, but where a heavier model is encountered it is frequently found better to lower the hood by standing in the car and pushing it backward.
