TROTTING AND FOOTBALL

TRAINERS TO MEET BARMEN BIG CLASH AT CARLAW PARK Having indulged in a final work out during the week-end, the trotting trainers are in good form for the Rugby League football clash with the barmen, at Carlaw Park tomorrow afternoon. After the final “gallops” the selectors were faced with a difficult proposition in selecting the team to don the livery on Wednesday, as several of the younger recruits showed fine form in the trials. However, it was thought advisable to add a bit of weight to the pack and for this reason a couple of the “old timers” were given preference over the juveniles. F. Mills and M Groat have been included in the team to represent the Otahuhu-Mangere section of light-harness enthusiasts. Following is the trainers team:—C. Fairman (captain), J. Cockle (vicecaptain), W. Kerr (secretary), W. Nightingale, C. G. Lee, M. Groat, F. Mills, J. Gee, C. Porter, L. McMahon, M. Nicholls, F. Lucas, S. Roe, and D. Cooke. Emergencies: J. O’Kane, R. Low, F. Herring. As the game will commence punctually at 2.30, all players are requested to be at Carlaw Park by 2.15.
