ALBANY DANCE

PLAIN AND FANCY DRESS EVENING The Coronation Hall at Albany | looked gay on Saturday evening, with j its decorations of coloured streamers, when a successful plain and fancy dress dance was held. The judging was carried out by Miss Utting, assisted by Messrs. Black and Town. The dance music supplied by the Valley Orchestra was greatly appreciated.. Miss Sheila Wood and Mr. L. Taylor were the winners of the Monte Carlo waltz. Miss E. Ross and Mrs. McClymont were awarded first prize for best fancy dress as a Butch Couple. Most original, Messrs. G. Hawkins and R. Ingham, as Bride and Bridegroom. Children’s fancy dress, Mr. J. Benton as Harlequin, and Miss R. Charmers as Powder Puff. Among those also present were:—Miss Johnson, as Shepherdess; Miss Elsie Schofield, Confetti; Miss M. Sloane, Folly; Mrs. A. McFetridge, sunset georgette and lace, with uneven hem; Mrs. E. Cross, pink crepe de chine, with rosebud trimmings; Mrs. Claude Ingham, ivory crepe de chine and lace with uneven hem. Miss T. Alison wore a frock of lace over gold lame with uneven hem; Miss L. Beecher, black velvet relieved with red; Miss R. Bonella, silver lame and tulle; Miss E. Brunton, crimson georgette, uneven hem; Miss W. Bruton, green ring velvet, with pastel buckle; Miss V. Town, ankle length lemon taffeta and gold lace; Miss G. Utting, cyclamen georgette frock; Miss C. Wood, sky blue satin beaute, with ring velvet skirt trimmed with tinsel; Miss Crowley, crushed rose crepe de chine, trimmed with lace; Miss P. Honan, flame taffeta with uneven hemline; Miss H. Hooton, floral crepe de chine, shawl to tone. Miss E. Neville had chosen blue crepe de chine with diamente trimming; Miss E. Ross, scarlet crepe de chine; Miss M. Ross, pink floral chiffon over crepe de chine, shawl to tone; Miss Minnie Summers, blue satin and silver lace; Miss Rene Taylor, misty blue taffeta, with uneven hem, posy to tone: Miss M. Thorburn, peach satin and gold lace; Miss K. McFarland, flame silk lace frock; Miss V. Moody, floral ring velvet, with uneven hem; Miss Rodgers, sky blue satin, with tiered skirt of black tulle, Spanish shawl to match.

AN ENGAGEMENT

The engagement is announced of Betty Grace Winifred, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Ward, of Hikurapgi .College, Carterton, to Alan gharles Keith, of Auckland, elder son or Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Harper, of Hastings.
