Gold Money Again In the Limelight

By the way she is galloping at headquarters. Gold Money is going to see a very short price in the sprint at Avondale next week. With the Avondale meeting only a ■ week off. training operations at Elj lerslie are now taking on a serious tone, and several keen tussles were ! provided this morning by horses due |to race at the suburban fixture. The j course proper, with the pegs out 25ft. I was available, and the majority of 1 horses were galloped on this track. J Number three grass, too. was open, but ; in little demand. As on former occa- ! sions Gold Money was the star performer. while others to please were Restaurant, Dave, The Dover. Hyde | Park. Tuneriri, Bizarre and Sleepy Sot. On the Course Proper ; Probably looking fitter than when j she raced in the recent Pakuranga | meeting, Gold Money added to her j circle of friends by rattling off five furlongs in 1.5 3-5, carving out the final half-mile in 52 1-5, and the last three nil 38. She was dispatched from the mile barrier and the pace was on to the three, but as this is a fairly fast five furlongs an allowance must be made for horses who went a similar distance, but over slower ground. Still, this smart sprinter had a fair weight in the saddle, and her effort was very creditable, showing she is retaining her form. Welkne ran seven furlongs in 1.39 3-5, but was easing up in the last three furlongs. Myola exhibited a turn of speed in sprinting from the half-mile in 53, while Dave improved on this time by recording 52 2-5 for a similar distance. This old favourite has been doing pleasingly in his training, and must be accorded support in his Avondale engagements. Bombarder and Alloy, who were paired over five furlongs, ran their last half-mile in 54. There was little to choose between them. Thursby was doing better than Adjuster at the conclusion of six furlongs, the last five taking 1.9 1-5. Zircon ran over seven furlongs, but was i\ot timed. Valsier, Brampton and Good Idea disposed of six furlongs in 1.23 1-5, with the first-mentioned horse doing it comfortably ahead of his companions at the end.

For their seven furlongs Kawainga and War Officer returned 1.40 4-5. Salamander going well within himsel. over a round in 2.15 2-5. Improving Fast Restaurant and Lusomu dashed over five furlongs in 1.6 4-5. with Restaurant a bare half-length to the good at the finish. This mare is progressing at a rapid rate, and her gallops are creditably achieved. Respirator and Tambourine were restricted to an easy half-mile, the former leading his companion all the way. Avondale Cup candidates in The Lover Qnside berth). King Emerald and Hyde Park (.outer )were associated once round, the distance being about nine and a-auarter furlongs. They were always racing in close order, and wound up the gallop in 2.7 4-5 —good time. The last seven fur*longs took 1.35 1-5, a furlong less in 1.22 4-5, and the last half-mile in 54 4-5. The Lover, who received a couple of lengths the worst of the start, quickly gathered in his companions and forged ahead in the last furlong to be -clear of King Emerald at the end. Hyde Park covered a lot more ground than the other pair and there was nothing wrong with his showing. Taneriri led Manawhenua for half a mile in 52 1-5. and was going much the stronger at the post. A pair of two-year-olds, Grand Spirit and Silene, ran two furlongs in 24 1-5. three in 37, and four in 52 2-5. casing up in the latter part of the gallop. There was nothing between them from the mile post until the six was reached, where Silene gradually weakened and was a length and a-half to the bad at the conclusion of the sprint. Gemlight and Palmares strode over their first furlong in 13, and the other four in 55, making I.S for the trip. Standfast hud Cynthia 11.. as a partner for a spin over six furlongs, and the time—l.2l —was rated as fairly good. Standfast had it on this chestnut in the last few strides, arjd his finishing effort suggests that seven furlongs or a mile would suit him. Automne took 2.16 for once round, while Bennie comfortably beat Mountain Quide over the same ground in 2.12 1-5. The three-year-old moved over the last six furlongs in 1.24 1-5, and did it well. A quartet comprising Diamond Queen, Measurer, Tctrarchate and Catoma hopped off from the six, Tetrarchate and Measurer showing out smartly at the start. Once settled down to business Diamond Queen went through and was travelling very easily to just beat Measurer in 3.22 1-5. Neither Tetrarchate nor Catoma was unduly hurried, and both could have done a lot better. Bizarro, with Gay Cockade as a corn panion, reeled off five furlongs in 1.7, and pleased by the manner in which ho did it. Lady|s Boy slipped over halt’ a mile in 55 2-5, and did it comfortably. For a lurlong further Roman Pearl took 1.7 4-5. the initial two in 27 1-5. Master Clements received all of six lengths start from Kauri Park and Harbour View when this trio were in company over a circuit, but with hall a mile passed over the last pair had gone to the front, llarvour View having a head advantage on Kauri Park in a ding-dong finish. They ran the journey in 2.14. but Kauri (Park’s actual time was 2.12 1-5. Chansonette gave weight and a beating to British Princess and Speak Out over three furlongs in 40 4-5, while Somq Lady covered the last five of six furlongs in 1.9. On number three grass Corinax moved evenly over a round, taking 1.24 for the last six furlongs. Chesterman led Royal Lad at the conclusion of three furlongs in 41, while Sea Comet went over a distance ot ground at three-quarter pace. Schooling Tasks Bizarro had R. Olive to pilot him over two brush fences, and his jumping was a decided improvement on previous schooling lessons. An impressive piece of schooling was witnessed when {Sleepy Sol (H. Junes) Sir Archie (T. Chaplin), Golden Wedding (L. Husband) and Adjuster (\V. Nightingale) essayed six hurdles. Disaster quickly overtook Adjuster, for at the second fence he went down on his nose, his rider making a splendid recovery from a perilous position. He was not asked to complete the lesson. Sleepy Sol led the other pair over the remaining obstacles, and was responsible for a first-class display. But for screwing at one or two fences Sir Archie jumped splendidly, while Golden Wedding spoilt an otherwise clean exhibition by a faulty jump at the last fence. Karamu (A. McGregor) negotiated two schooling hurdles without mishap. Master Doon (McNeil) and Kamehameha (Nightingale) essayed two pony hurdles, and after clearing the first in good style, Master Doon failed to rise at the second and crashed heavily. Luckily, however, his rider escaped injury. TAUNIARUNUI CLUB PROGRAMME FOR ANNUAL FIXTURE (Special to THE SUNj - TAUMARUNUI, Friday.
