SUDDEN DEATH IN STREET
COLLAPSE OF OLD MAN From Our Otrn Correspondent WAIHI, Wednesday While on his way home from work yesterday Mr. James Thompson, aged 74, collapsed in the street and died almost immediately. At an inquest held this morning before the district coroner, Mr. W. M Walnutt, evidence was given by Dr. T. G. Short that he was of opinion that death was due to natural causes, probably a sudden heart seizure. A. verdict was returned in accordance with the medical evidence. Mr. Thompson, who was a native ft Scotland, had been in the employ f the Waihi Gold Mining Company fev over 30 years as an engine-driver, and prior to coming to New Zealand followed the same occupation at Derby, Tasmania. He is survived b a widow and family of four adult sons.
