COMPETITIONS JUDGES

NEXT MONTH’S FESTIVAL

NAMES ANNOUNCED Four of the judges td officiate at the Auckland Competitions, which are po be held in the Lewis Eady Hall, beginning on October 17, have been appointed. They are:—Elocution, Mr. J. W. Bailey, of Wanganui: dancing, Miss Audrey Hughes-Johnson, of Wanganui; vocal, Mr. Lance Craig, of Hastings; instrumental, Mr. Griffiths, of Wanganui. Miss Hughes-Johnson has had previous experience in judging dancing in various parts of New Zealand. She is a well-known danseuse, and has danced before the Prince of Wales, bfeing specially complimented by him on her performance.

Mr. Lance Craig is organist and choral director at St. Andrew’s Church, Hastings, and conductor of the Napier Choral Society. Pie has been judge at the Hawera and South Canterbury festivals, and at many smaller competitions. f Several new classes have been included in this year's programme of the society. There will be a character recital for children under 12, a piano solo for children under JO, and a violin solo for children under 11. Class three in the elocution section, a dialogue in character, has been changed to a dialogue in character or otherwise.
