BRITISH COLLIERIES
AMALGAMATION HINT BY MR. LANSBURY (Australian and 2V.Z. Press Association) LONDON, Wednesday. In the course of his speech in the East End yesterday. Mr. George Lansbury. First Commissioner of Works, hinted at the voluntary unification of all the colliery companies in Britain in one great public utility company. The Minister said he -was certain that if the coalmine owners, recognising the serious position of the industry, would agree, the House of Commons would be quite willing to support such an enterprise in the same manner as it agreed to assist the railways.
