BAKER IN DEBT
“VICTIM OF CIRCUMSTANCES”
Described as a "victim of circumstances," W. J. Logan, a baker, of Remuera, met his creditors this morn-
in*'. Logan carried on a business in Eemttera Road up to August, 1927, and. on finding himself becoming involved, called his creditors together. In the next month, a resolution by the creditors assigned the estate to a solicitor. In his statement to Mr. V. R. Crotvhurst. acting official assignee, this morning. Logan attributed his failure to the fact that the solicitor failed to obtain signatures of certain creditors. Logan had been forced into bankruptcy, and he owed £246 11s sd, without assets. "The business was carried on far too long by the solicitor assigned and his committee,” a creditor remarked. For Logan, it was stated he had been made bankrupt by petition, and had no control over circumstances after his estate had been assigned. There was no suggestion of dishonesty. Mr. Chrowhurst adjourned the meeting to September 24. A statement of receipts and expenditure after the business was assigned will be sought.
