NEW ZEALAND RAILWAYS REDUCED RAILWAY RATES From 8 a.m. on SATURDAY, 14th SEPTEMBER the following rates will be charged on goods consigned from AUCKLAND OR NEWMARKET Stations to:— Classes: THE SMALL LOTS SCALE, by which goods of 4 cwt. and under were charged at special rates, will be ABOLISHED. SMALL LOTS of goods will in future be charged AT PROPORTIONATE TONNAGE RATE. To Kauwhata to Huntly: Miui mum I/- per consignment. Taupiri to Cambridge and Tc Awamutu: Minimum 1/6 per consignment. Goods for PRANKTON JN., HAMILTON AND CAMBRIDGE charged at the above rates will, with the undermentioned exceptions, be DELIVERED FREE within the business areas by any local licensed carrier (not in competition with the Railway Department) nominated by the consignee. EXCEPTIONS TO FREE DELIVERY. Pianos, motor ears in cases, plate glass, household removals, aeroplanes, boats, empty tanks, theatrical luggage and scenery, contractors’ plant, vehicles, any package exceeding 7 cwt. in weight or 20ft. in length, bulky creamery or freezing vats, show exhibits. Business firms who take delivery of goods from Frankton Jn., Ham ilton or Cambridge with their own lorries will be allowed an amount equal to that which would be paid to a carrier if the goods were delivered by the Department.
