REFEREES’ DISPUTE
AMICABLE SETTLEMENT OF SOCCER TROUBLE CONTROL BOARD MEETS An amicable settlement of tlte dis- ; pute over the appointment of Soccer referees was reached at last evening’s meeting of the Control Board of the Auckland Football Association. The referees decided to function under any appointments body that the control board might decide to form. Following a request from the Navy Squadron team for a game against the Auckland representatives on September 21, it was resolved to play them against a. team selected from players not required for knock-out competition matches on that date. The Junior Management Committee intimated its intention of forming a North Island Secondary Schools’ Association, and of holding an annual tournament for the Skerrett Cup. This j decision had been arrived at at a meet- 1 ing of Auckland and Wellington secondary schools’ delegates. A letter was received from the inter- j house Rugby Association applying for the use of Blandford Park next Tuesday night for a retail v. wholesale business houses’ representative game, the proceeds to go to charity. Permission was granted on the condition that the St. John Ambulance benefited from the proceeds. Further correspondence was received from the Arapuni Club regarding a match in Auckland against an Auckland club team on Saturday next. It was decided to grant permission for a game, between Arapuni and the Diomede, to be played subject to the up- j proval of the South Auckland Associa- : tion.
