NEW POST OFFICE
GLEN EDEN’S REQUEST TOWN BOARD MEETING Hope was expressed at a meeting of the Glen Eden Town Board last evening that the Postmaster-General would decide in favour of a new post office for that district. The present post office was considered to be out of date. A letter was received from Air. H. G. R. Alason, . M.P., stating that one plot of land suggested for the post office had not met with the approval of the postal authorities, but a suitable section had been found near the railway station. A letter was received from the New Lynn Borough Council asking what attitude the board intended to adopt concerning the Wh'au bridge scheme. Glen Eden's contribution to the scheme would be per cent, of the cost, New Lynn 25 per cent., while the Auckland City Council’s share would amount to 50 per cent. It was decided to defer the matter until the AVaitemata County Council and the Henderson Town Board had been consulted. Concerning the improving of Wanna Road and Brandon Road, the meeting decided that the original plans would be carried out. This would mean that both these roads would be made 12 feet wide, thus giving plenty of room for traffic.
