LOAN APPROVED

PUKEKOHE FIRE STATION (Front Our Own' Correspondent) PUKEKOHE, Today. Authority for the raising of a loan of £8,400 for the erection of a new lire station was received by the Pukekohe Fire Board at its quarterly meeting held yesterday, Air. John Routly presiding. The rate of interest had been fixed at 5 A per cent., sinking fund at 2£ per cent., and the duration of the loan at 24 years. The secretary reported that debentures totalling £2,900 had, already been applied for. The tender of D. G. Watson, of £2,969 13s lid, for the erection of the station, was accepted. It was reported that the new fire alarm system was in operation, and a test proved satisfactory. The extension of water mains in the majority of streets were stated to have been coupled up with the town supply. Certain sections of three-inch mains have been replaced by fourinch piping. It was decided that in future the board’s insurances, at present in the State and other offices, should be balloted for.
